About the Artist
Growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest VA, Virginia Moore developed an early and deep love for mountain landscape painting. In 2007, she moved out west – starting in Lander, Wyoming in the foothills of the Wind River Range, then spent several years in the Canadian Rocky Mountains of Alberta, and then in Jackson, WY from 2015 to 2018.
Virginia now lives in Chamonix, France with her husband and 2-year old son, where she works as a documentary filmmaker, and produces paintings at her home studio.
Virginia graduated from the University of Virginia in 2007, with a BA in Studio Art Painting. She has since studied plein air painting with artists George Handrahan and Phil Stark. Virginia teaches painting for both high school and college programs. Virginia has done residencies at the Lander Art Center, and the Jentel Artist Residency. She won the 2017 Juror’s Choice Award at the Wyoming Governors Capitol Art Exhibition in Cheyenne.
